Is anyone familiar with setting up an APC uninterruptible power supply (UPS) with Server Essentials 2016. The native power configuration settings have several settings but I am not sure how to set them. The UPS and server are connected with a USB cableand the server shows the UPS connected in device manager. Do I set up the native windows to shutdown the server after a certain amount of time after being on battery backup? If so how long should this be set for?
I really don't want to install the APC PowerchuteBusiness software on the new server but is that the only option?Mark Hickinbotham. That makes no sense. MS just seems to miss the forest for the trees. This is very important. A server should see and communicate with a UPS. Forget a printer this is far more important and yet it has been overlooked.
I've got two servers in two different offices. They're both running Server 2008 SBS 64 bit, set up within a couple weeks of each other. Each one is connected to an APC UPS via a USB cable.Server 1 has a problem where Windows' power management tries to shut down the server during a power outage, interfering with Powerchute. 'Installing and Uninstalling PowerChute Business Edition on Windows Server 2008/ 2012 Server Core. Safari magazine pdf 2018 free download. Note for Windows Server 2008 and 2012 Server Core -The Agent is the only component of PowerChute Business Edition that can be installed to Windows Server 2008 or 2012 Server Core (both 32-bit and R2 64-bit).
The server should recognizethe UPS and shutdown at a administrator determined level of charge and then restart the server at a determined administrator determined level of charge and power restoration. We pay for all the pretty stuff but this is important. Hello MS SBS Team.Mark Hickinbotham. There are several settings in the power options from the control panel.
Advanced settings gives us Low battery level, critical battery level, low battery action and critical battery action. I currently have the low battery level set at 10% and the criticalbattery level set at 5%. The low battery action is 'Do nothing' and the critical battery action is 'Shut down'. The new dell bio's has no power settings that I can see. Therefore my question is when the battery level reaches 5% the systemwill shutdown but how does it know when to restart?
There is not setting to restart once the battery level gets to a set level like for example 15% charge?Mark Hickinbotham. I think 5% is too low for shutdown. I personally would raise it to 50% (at least) I have no clue, if updates are pending will they try to install when shutting down on battery? Like I said, the goal is a safe shutdown, not to squeeze asmuch battery performance as possible. There is no battery percentage for power on. Because it will be on power not battery when the power comes on. Windows is off so it cannot talk to it.
I do not think the UPS has a setting for when it turns on. I am pretty sure I have toturn my UPS(s) back on when the power is off.Grey. That makes no sense.
